A new study by Stanford University, Northwestern University, Dartmouth College and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology show investors are more likely to invest in companies with a high percentage of women in their workforce.
The study is based on the analysis of a dozen of high tech and financial companies listed on the stock market.
While most of the similar studies, such as the recent report by McKinsey , tend to focus on the gender diversity on board to highlights the benefits of it, this study focuses only on the diversity of the company workforce.
Jennifer Dannals, one of the researchers at the origin of the report said the reasons for such infatuation are linked to the correlation showed by other researchers between gender diversity and innovation as well as ethical reasons. Investors like to support social or political goals, including diversity goals.
