2012年から2018年の間に創業されたブロックチェーン企業378社のうち、女性だけで創業された企業は1社のみ。男性と女性合わせて創業された企業は31社、全体の8.2％であった。
報告書によると、ブロックチェーン業界の女性労働者の割合は世界の労働者数の4％～6％と非常に少ない。
また、ブロックチェーン代表者における性別表現の欠如も強調されている。
ブロックチェーン研究を行っているアメリカのトップ大学では、４0人の教授のうち、女性教授は8人だけである。同じことは、ブロックチェーンと暗号通貨に関する2019年のカンファレンスイベントにも言える。聴衆の女性割合は21％であったが、女性スピーカーは、113人中わずか20人であった。
A new report by Diversity in Blockchain, a non-profit organization aimed to increase diversity in blockchain industry, reveals the lack of gender diversity in the industry.
Out of the 378 blockchain firms created between 2012 and 2018, only 1 was fully founded by women and 31 (8.2%) by a mixed team.
This represents a proportion far lower than the Tech industry average where 17.7% of the founded companies are mixed.
According to the report, female workers in the blockchain industry represent between 4% and 6% of the global workforce.
The report also highlights the lack of gender representation in blockchain representatives.
In the top US universities for blockchain studies, out of the 40 teachers, only 8 are women.
Same goes for the 2019 conferences and events around blockchain and crypto currencies, out of the 113 speakers reported, only 20 were women, despite a 21% women representation in the audience.
