グループ間関係の社会心理学に特化した非営利組織であるaChord Centerは、イスラエルの障害者に対する職場の差別に関する新しい報告書を発表した。
職場で差別があるかどうかの調査をしたところ、障害のある473人の回答者のうち20％の人が、差別を受けていると回答。それに比べ、障害のない人は、回答者1,010人のうちわずか8％の人だけが差別を受けていると回答した。
また、聴覚障害のある人の47％、精神障害のある人の42％、視覚障害のある人の39％が、職場が障害に適応した環境を提供していないと感じると報告した。
障害のある人の15％は、アクセシビリティが整っていない為に、医師の予約を避けることを宣言した。アクセシビリティの問題により、22％の人が公共交通機関の利用を控え、21％の人が社交行事へ行きづらく、22％の人がコンサートや音楽イベントに行くことを控えていると報告された。
障害者の平等な権利のための委員であるAvremi Torem氏は
「調査結果は、障害のある人々がアクセシビリティ規制の整備がなされていない事に日々苦しんでいることを示している。」と述べた。
aChord Center, a non-profit organization specialized in the social psychology of intergroup relations released a new report regarding workplace discrimination toward persons with disabilities in Israel.
The survey based on 473 respondents with disabilities and 1010 respondents without disabilities reveals 20% of persons with disabilities reported workplace discrimination compared to 8% without disabilities.
In addition, 47% of people with hearing disability, 42% of people with mental health disability and 39% of people with visual disability reported feeling their workplace does not provide the necessary adaptations required for their disability.
Furthermore, 15% of persons with disabilities declared avoiding doctors’ appointments due to the lack of accessibility.
Still due to accessibility difficulties, 22% refrain from using public transportation, 21% reported missing social events and 22% abstain to go to concerts or musical events.
“The findings show that people with disabilities suffer daily from the incomplete formulation and application of accessibility regulations,” said Avremi Torem, Commissioner for Equal Rights of People with Disabilities.
