オーストラリアの女子サッカーチーム(The Matildas)は男子サッカーチーム(The Socceros)と同額の給与を受け取ることが決定した。
新しく決まったこの4年契約の期間、男女平等であることを遵守するため、Matildasは海外遠征時も飛行機はビジネスクラスを利用することになる。
「サッカーは皆の試合であり、この新しい共同概念は平等という価値観や統合、機会の平等を受け入れるステップの一つだ」とFFA会長のクリス・ニコウ(Chris Nikou)は述べる。
この4年契約の一部として、SocceroosとMatildasはチームに集まった資金の24％を受け取ることになる。この中から、選手たちは18歳以下のナショナルチームに5％寄付する。さらに、ワールドカップの出場資格を得ようと努力している選手に対し、賞金の一部を分け与える割合を30％から40％に増やす。
オーストラリアナショナルチームのキャプテンであるマーク・ミリガン(Mark Milligan)は「女性選手たちは彼女たちにふさわしいものを得た」と述べている。
「サッカー選手として、いつも思い描いていたものだ。この合意は女性に対するリスペクトを反映していると思う」と、Matildasのミッドフィルダーであるエリーゼ・ケロンド・ナイト(Elise Kellond-Knight)は述べた。
「我々は、今回の件を一つの例として、全ての組織や選手たちに提示できるのではないかと思う。男女共にだ。そして、今回女性選手たちが得た機会を、全ての人が社会的・商業的に利用することができるようになるだろう」と、オーストラリアプロサッカー選手のジェネラルディレクターであるジョン・ディブリカ(John Didulica)は述べた。
From now, the Australia women’s national soccer team (The Matildas) will now on receive the same salary as their male peers (The Socceroos).
For this new 4-year contract, and in order to provide gender equality, from now the Matildas will also be flying in business class while traveling abroad for soccer games.
“Football is everybody’s game and this new collective agreement is a step towards adopting the values of equality, integration and equal opportunities,” said Chris Nikou, President of the Football Federation Australia (FFA).
As part of this 4-year contract, the Socceroos and Matildas will receive 24% of the revenue raised by the two national teams. Of this amount, the players have committed to donate 5% to the national under 18 teams. In addition, the share of the winnings for the players who manage to qualify for a World Cup will increase from 30 to 40%.
Australian national team captain Mark Milligan said women got “what they deserve”.
“As a footballer, it’s a bit of what we’ve always dreamed of. This agreement reflects respect for women,” said Matildas’ midfielder Elise Kellond-Knight.
“We believe that it will serve as an example for all federations and all players, both men and women, and will allow them to take advantage of the incredible social and commercial opportunity that women’s football represents,” said the General Director of Australian professional football players, John Didulica.
