サウジアラビアの携帯電話会社であるザイン(Zain)は、２０２２年までに障碍者に対して包摂的な会社であると認識されるために、「We Able」という取り組みに着手した。
「社会におけるザインの重要な役割は、我々が職場やそれ以外の活動においても、良い変化を創り出していく際に、パイオニア精神を持ち続けなければいけないということだ。また、この動きに追随する他の企業にとって、自分たちがパイオニアの立場にあることを誇りに思う。『We Able』の実施することは、持続可能な障碍者包摂プログラムを開発、実行する我々の責任を表している」。
我々は、もうそろそろ障碍者たちが職場や社会において実行可能な貢献を認識すべき時期にあると思っている。また、我々の言葉や行動を通して、障碍者雇用に関する意識を高めるような機会を持つことは喜ばしいことだと思う。と、ザインの副社長であるバデル・アルカラフィ（Bader Al-Kharafi）は述べた。
ザインは、サウジアラビア、バーレーン、ヨルダン、クウェート、イラク、スーダン、南スーダン、レバノンの中東８つの国に支社を持つ。
現在、中東と北アフリカ(MENA)地域における非就業率は、女性８６％、男性６６％であり、この新しい取り組みを通して、ザインは要求される雇用数を超えようとしており、また障害者にも多くの機会を作り出そうとしている。
Zain, a Saudi Arabian mobile telecommunication company, launched its “We Able” initiative in order to be classified as an inclusive company toward disabled people by 2022.
“Zain’s influential role in society means we must maintain our pioneering outlook with respect to creating positive change in the workplace and in all other areas of our activities. We are proud to stand as an example for other corporates to follow and the implementation of the ‘We Able’ initiative reflects our commitment to develop and implement a sustainable [differently abled] inclusion program”.
We believe it is high time that the contributions that people [who are differently abled] are able to make in our workforces and in society in general be recognized, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to raise awareness in this area through our words and more importantly through our actions.” said Zain’s vice chair Bader Al-Kharafi.
Zain is present in 8 Middle Eastern countries, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Sudan, South Sudan and Lebanon.
Currently the unemployment rate for the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) is 86% for women and 66% for men and with its new initiative, Zain intends to surpass the required employment quota as well as create many opportunities for the disabled community.
