ブルームバーグによると、インタビューの中でユニクロ創設者の柳井正氏は、彼の後継者には女性の方が企業にとってもいいと述べた。
「この仕事は女性の方が向いている。彼女たちは忍耐強く、ディテールにこだわり、美的センスもある」ということだそうだ。
考えられる後継者候補として赤井田真希氏の名前が浮上している。彼女は現在40歳で、2001年にユニクロに入社。ユニクロの日本事業の経営を任されているが、以前は中国と日本のユニクロ店舗で店長として働き、販売や人事採用の部署も経験。
ユニクロ幹部は30％以上が女性で、柳井氏によればいずれ50％を超えるだろうとのこと。
比較として、2017年7月の時点で、日本の企業における女性管理職は9.6％に過ぎなかった。
During an interview according to Bloomberg, Tadashi Yanai, the founder of Uniqlo, said it would be better for the brand to have a woman succeeding him.
“The job is more suitable for a woman, they are persevering, detail oriented and have an aesthetic sense.”
Among the possible candidates, the name of Maki Akaida seems to stand out. Now 40 years old, she joined Uniqlo in 2001. Now running the Japan’s operation for the brand, she previously managed Uniqlo stores in China and Japan, worked in the sales department and in human resources.
The company’s senior positions held by women are now exceeding 30% and is expected to reach over 50% according to Yanai.
In comparison, in June 2017 managerial positions held by females in Japan was at 9.6%.
