ウォール・ストリート・ジャーナル紙によると、親会社であるL Brandsは、米ランジェリーブランド｢ヴィクトリアズ・シークレット｣を売却する方針であると報じた。また、同紙によると、L Brandsの最高経営責任者である、レスリー・ウェクスナー氏は退任を検討している。
2000年代には非常に売り上げを伸ばしたヴィクトリアズ・シークレットだが、その後売上は減少。昨年にはL Brands のシェアは26％減少となり、グループの市場評価額は、現在約60億ドル。2015年のピーク時の290億ドルからはほど遠い数字となっている。
また、ヴィクトリアズ・シークレットのダイバーシティの欠如については以前より批判されているが、CEOであるレスリー・ウェクスナー氏は、昨年8月に獄中死したニューヨークの投資家であるジェフリー・エプスタインとの親密な関係でも現在強い批判を浴びている。
ウェクスナー氏は、未成年の少女買春疑惑で告発されたエプスタイン氏とは、10年前より関係を持っていないと主張しているが、実際にはこの犯罪行為にウェクスナー氏も関与していたのではないかと言われている。
The Wall street journal reports that the women’s lingerie brand Victoria’s secret could be sold and its boss Leslie Wexner could step down from his CEO position of L Brands, headquarter of Victoria’s Secret.
After having been very profitable in the 2000s, the brand is losing momentum and has seen its sales decreased for a few years.
The L Brands share lost 26% last year. The group’s market valuation is now at nearly $6 billion, far from the $29 billion it was at its peak in 2015.
Already criticized for its lack of diversity, the brand is once again facing charges of sexual misconduct.
Additionally, Leslie Wexner is also suspected to be involved in the Jeffrey Epstein’s case (New York financier who died in prison last August after being charged with multiple sexual assaults on young underage girls), although he claims to have cut connections with Epstein 10 years ago.
